A lot of people don't know the difference between impressionism and expressionism. I want to explain quickly what is the beautiful impressionist painting movement without you having three hours of research.

Impressionism artistic movement was created by a group of artists in France during the second half of the XIX century. They wanted to recreate art their way, without following the academic painting they were teaches, which was very severe on painting technique(all the paintings must be the most realistic as possible), but also on the subjects to paint (historic moments, gentry portraits, important occasions). Impressionists started to paint for themselves, and not for the aristocracy. It was a big revolution of artistic technique because they painted with spots, and they give to the painting an impression of realism, but when you look at the painting closely, it was plenty of blunt and blurry brush strokes. Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Auguste Renoir and many others wanted to show their own point of view to the world : wonderful and enchanting gardens, lively faraway people, and ordinary people of their everyday life.

Ils voulaient recréer l’art à leur manière, sans suivre l’enseignement de la peinture académique, qui est très sévère sur la technique à utiliser (tous les tableaux devaient être le plus réaliste possible), mais aussi sur le sujet à peindre (moments historiques, portraits de la noblesse, les occasions importantes). Les impressionnistes commençaient à peindre pour eux-mêmes et non pour l’aristocratie. Ce fut une grande révolution pour la technique artistique parce qu’ils peignaient avec des taches et ils donnaient à l’œuvre une impression de réalisme, mais lorsque vous regardez le tableau de très près, vous voyez des coups de pinceaux brusques et flous. Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Auguste Renoir et plus encore voulaient montrer au monde leur propre point de vue : des jardins magnifiques et féériques, des peuples lointains et des gens ordinaires dans leur quotidien.
